Yuh ever wonder why every time we import somet’ing from Eh-Merica (yuh like meh Yankee ackcent or wat..?) it nearly always somet’ing bad….?   Now it have all kinda ole talk goin’ on now about dis issue of “pornography” or “adult” entertainment… de cable channels bringin’ in dem porno channels an’ it have big debate as to whether it legal or if we should allow dat, an’ how tuh regulate it.. yuh know how it go…..  

Now check de scene…if yuh bring some magazines in yuh suitcase wit’ “obscene” material, yuh go get arrested. But de cable channels bringin’ in worse dan dat, an’ people could  PAY tuh get it!  Now brudder, yuh eh fine somet’ing ah l’il stupid dey…?  Eh..?  If ah getting hol’ for bringin’ in ah few magazines for mehself,  how come ah company could bring in worse t’ing, charge de population tuh see it , an’ get away wit it?  Now ah hearin’ all kinda arguments…check out de ole talk

“Dat is wat de people want”   …so if I want ah AK47 an’ a bag ah coke, ah could get dat too….? Yeah, ah know dem against de law, but dat is de point, small man, not because people want it mean yuh must make it legal…oh gosh, man talk sense for ah change, nah…

“But  is for adults, an’ de parents could also have ah code tuh block it off….”   First of all, yuh really t’ink young children stupid?   If dey want tuh fin’ ah way dey go fin’ ah way dred, an’ it have other parents who eh really care, so if yuh chile eh see it by you, dey go see it by somebody… yuh could control dat?  An’ further what yuh really sayin’ tuh de nex’ generation…. dat dat is de kind ah t’ing dat does define ah adult…?   Is de same reason why children does smoke when dey “grow up” or does sneak an’ take ah puff… because dey want tuh get big fast… so yuh focussin’ dem on dat from de time dey small…. leh dem enjoy what little innocence dey have left in dey chilehood nah….  If yuh want tuh focus dem on adult ti’ng focus on education, good character, respect, responsibility, creative t’inkin’… yeah, dah is de dam t’ing self…wah yuh say..?  Ah talkin’ sense…?,

“But dat doh budder nobody, man jus’ havin’ ah l’il fun”  Um Hmm.. dat is why dey have big Congressional Committee in de US on Pornography an’ spending billions of dollars to stop it from runnin’ t’rough de society?  Because it harmless, because it does lift de image of man an’ woman,  because it doh exploit young uneducated people an’ l’il chilren, because it not addictive, because it does produce well rounded adults,  because is de bes’ t’ing since slice bread….

An besides all dat, leh we get to de base of de matter… what benefit we society go get from havin’ dem channels all over people home…?    How dat go help de nation or we citizens tuh develop?  How dat go make we life better?   Wat yuh used tuh do before dem channel come on.. yuh didn’t have ah life…?   Poor you...!

Now ah doh doubt dat pornagraphy attractive, otherwise it wouldna be so popular….. an’ young people curious an’ all dat, but wit all de t’ing it have in under de shelf  in video store, an’ on cable already, an’ de Net, yuh eh t’ink we have enough tuh deal wit,  wit’out addin’ tuh de mess?    Yuh REALLY t’ink dis society sexually unaware so we need to educate weself by usin’ X rated channels?  Yuh really want tuh go and devise one setta laws for somet’ing dat everybody know does do damage tuh society… it eh have ah single study dat show how de introduction of pornagraphy help ah society,…so brudder  understan’ wha’ ah sayin’, de bes’ way tuh regulate  the use of somet’ing is not tuh use it……

De nex’ issue de Cobra want tuh get fangs into is dis domestic violence t’ing..  For last month, more dan 3 people get kill an’ endless odders nearly get kill because ah dis nonsense…. an’ of course we have de usual response… throw money at it, but we eh have none ah dat, so dat eh ah option, so Plan 2, talk it tuh death…! 

All kinda propsition an’ reason yuh hearin’…. change de laws, is because man feelin’ threaten, man cyah take horn… ah bellyful ah talk..why dey doh hire yuh boy  tuh be ah “Consultant on Social Interactions”….see de view ah checkin’…..dat problem exist long before woman start tuh get job, an’ earn money an’ all dat… dat is ah small part of de t’ing, an’ even so, is jus’ ah trigger, dat eh de cause.

Remember de calypso dat more dan 40 years old…? (By de way, de  fella wasn’t serious, eh….. was sarcasm)

According to de Cobra, it have 3 basic causes…. one, de problem is bad relationships, yes sah… people doh know how tuh form good relationships, so whoever have power go use it tuh control de odder one, whether is physical, economic, mind games, whatever…it does happen in work, in school, wherever yuh have people, so it mus’ happen in de house…. we have tuh learn tuh communicate an’ especially respect… if yuh doh respect somet’ing, yuh eh go treat it good..…  Doh rush in…  make it clear what yuh expeck, an’ wat yuh givin’ etc… but  people jus’  runnin’ in full speed an’ when t’ings eh work out, want tuh start ah baccahnal….   An’ by de way, women, try an’ make sure de fella ah little stable nah…. if yuh look in ah drain, yuh go only fin’ moss…. yuh wort’ more dan dat… it eh now woman supportin’ de Caribbean society, yuh know, is hundred of years now….. yuh have ah right tuh yuh respeck…. believe me, “no man always better dan ah bad man…!”

De nex t’ing is we does tolerate violence easy, easy, an’ den wonderin’ how come people getting’ violent…check out de TV, cinema,..  who is de hero…yeah, de one who lick up all dem odders… yuh t’ink dat message eh comin’ across to de young chilren?   Check out de language, music…. take ah good look around.. yeah, if yuh plant lime, yuh cyah expeck orange tuh bear….  one of we honorable ministers in gov’t is ah known wifebeater (yeah, ah eh fraid tuh say it.... is he wife, not me, who sell he out…!).   An if he still in gov’t, den he mus’ be ah role model (muddle)… what de hell…anyt’ing is anyt’ing, oui….. bring yuh costume an’ come, leh we play mas….! 

An’ of course we have tuh examine de social situation…. if yuh have people living’ like dog an’ cat, hustlin’ for ah livin’, tryin’ tuh make ends meet, or livin’ in some place not fit for man or animal, after ah while dey go start behavin’ radical , an’ de weakest ones go get beat up..   Check wat does happen when all dem poor countries have unrest… yuh does see people holdin’ nice placard an’ marching, singin’ like ah choir?…  NO! is gunshot, knife, cutlass flyin’…. yeah yuh musn’t bring people  tuh dat state so dey start tuh behave like beast…     But check out de economic formula we usin’, it just not suited to we atall..    We followin’ all dem “economic stratergies” an’ wey it get we….? Even de World Bank admit it only lead to more poverty… yeah, we have arthritis, but we drinkin’ cold medicine, an’ wonderin’ why de arthritis eh getting’ better….!    An’  is bout 15 years we tellin’ dem dat…but nah,  we eh nobody…

But after all ah dat, like ah say, what it come round to is teachin’ chilren from small how tuh form good relationship…if dey eh getting example at home, for heaven sake, teach dem in school an’ make sure de parents know wat happenin’ an’ supportin’, because dem could use some lessons too…

 

JUSTICE FOR ALL....?

Ah boy, now dem lawyer boys tryin’ tuh get in on de action…..  ah was hopin’ it woulda go away like ah col’, but it still dey… De Chief Justice (CJ) say how de president of de Law association (Karl Hudson Phillip (more name dan man if yuh ask me)) an’ de Attorney General , Ramesh “Twist Mout” Maraj, supportin’ moves dat would compromise de judiciary an’ make it open to influence from dem slack politicians.

Now de man make it in public, so one time big row start.  All de High Court Judges (except 1) support de CJ, and de Law Association support Karlo.  Which ah suppose is why he had tuh go public, because if he did go to de Law Assoc., dey woulda fry he dry.   Karlo jump up an’ take it personal, gone an’ makin’ speech on the Hall of Justice steps (it shoulda rain!) instead ah Town Hall or Woodford Square, both of dem less dan 100 metres from de Hall. 

Now ah eh no lawyer, but oh gorm, we suppose tuh be big men, ent?  De issue here is not who is who, but wat is de bes’ way to get justice for all ah we.  Leh we sit dong an’ debate, nah…  Most of we laws, we import, so sometimes we have tuh change t’ings tuh fit weself, yuh know wat ah mean…? Dat is all, no need for all dis name callin’ an’ talkin’ about race in law  (wey Karlo get dat from?) an’ one setta stupidness…. no man, issues, focus on de issues! 

De nex one tuh reply is de AG, who want de governent to decide in ah way when an’ how to give money to de Judiciary, radder dan trustin’ de CJ.  Ah kinda smell ah rat (an’ ah dead one at dat..)…  Was dere ah problem before?  De CJ have too much work on he desk, so he cyah do dat too? 

What (if it have one) is de problem exactly?  Why yuh propose dis change in de system…? No answer…  But we need tuh deal wit dis man,  it have too much bobol in de legal system already…  remember justice is ah woman wit ah cloth round she face and scales in she hands?  She suppose tuh be impartial , and even t’ings out, but here nah, in dis place we have we own interpretation… she blind so she cyah see when dem big boys robbin’ we blind, she have scales tuh choose bribe, who ever put more money on de scale getting’ what dey want, an’ like she deaf and dumb too, because dem lawyers doh hear yuh if yuh poor an’ nobody doh talk unless yuh drag dem in front Commission of Inquiry…..

 

 

TRINI BRIDGE IS FALLIN' DOWN, FALLIN' DOWN, FALLIN' DOWN......

Bridgebuiding.. de lost art…. ah doh know wha happenin’ ..   de Valencia bridge (ah new bridge) start tuh collapse after some rain yesterday.  

Now de ole bridge dey from de time Rock of Ages was ah pebble, an’ everybody use tuh pass on it.  Dey decide it ol' an’ too narrow, so dey build ah new bridge, which decide tuh do an 'London Bridge' on we…..

Now if dis was ah isolated incident, ah would understand, but dong South, dey build ah new bridge dong by de entrance tuh San Fernando (Cross Crossing? ah forget de name of de place)…  well , dred, dat is is de firs’ time ah bridge nearly end up IN de river dan OVER de  river. 

De t’ing start tuh collapse an’ dey had tuh run quick tuh save it…   Hear nah, ah jus’ hope dey eh do dat kinda job on de new Airport runway, because dem overseas airlines go either stop comin’ or drop of passengers wit’ parachute because dey go fraid tuh lan’…..
